Upload your sleep study data to calculate hypoxic burden and visualize results
Hypoxic Burden (HB) quantifies the cumulative oxygen desaturation load during sleep by integrating both the depth and duration of SpO₂ drops. Unlike simple event counts (AHI), HB captures the actual physiological stress of intermittent hypoxia on cardiovascular and neural systems.
Calculation: HB = Σ (desaturation area below baseline) / total sleep hours → unit: %·min/hr
This implementation follows the methodology by Sutherland et al. (Sleep, 2022), validated across multiple sleep cohorts. HB has proven to be a stronger predictor of cardiovascular outcomes than traditional metrics, as demonstrated by Azarbarzin et al. (AJRCCM, 2019). We provide this tool for research use, but do not guarantee regulatory compliance.
